Created out of one woman’s love for creating memories through delicious pastry bites, Truly Scrumptious officially launched in 2020. Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Truly Scrumptious specializes in creating high-quality, hand-crafted cakes, bakes and desserts made to order.

About Vicki Cooper

Hi! I’m Vicki, owner and lead baker of Truly Scrumptious.

My love for cooking began at 16 when I became a civilian apprentice chef for the British army. From my very first day I knew I had found my passion. The excitement and energy just connected with my soul I feel incredibly lucky that I have never lost that feeling when it comes to all things culinary, creative and understanding the science of food.

During my early training years I was fortunate enough to train with some world class military chefs including one of the creators of Prince Charles and Diana’s wedding cake! I’ve prepared Afternoon Tea for the Queen and have been part of a team for countless events that I’ve been so proud to be a part of.

Making people happy with the food I create runs in my blood. My largest influences being my mum, my nan and my uncle.

Although I’ve loved all aspects of cooking throughout my career, I have always naturally gravitated towards the creative side of the pastry and baking arts. I ran several pastry departments in England before emigrating to Nova Scotia in 2010 where I joined the Marriott hotel in Halifax as their pastry chef.

For ethical reasons, I became a vegetarian at 17 years old and have never looked back. Without a doubt, this foundation has inspired my love for creating delicious comparable plant-based vegan and gluten free alternatives. I truly believe in making incredible flavours that are indistinguishable from their regular counterparts, creating a personal and positive experience for all to enjoy.
